Chippewa Guide Launched

The Chippewa Guide project is now in production.  We are looking for businesses in the Chippewa Valley that would like to be inclued in the business guide, and are also looking for ideas on how to further improve the guide.  Come Visit Us.

First Beta of Chippewa Guide

The first beta 1.0 release of the Chippewa Guide is up on the web. This is still pretty rough, but it's a first attempt at getting the web site released. Currently it is possible to browse the site, many of the views are completed, and it is possible to put in a listing for a business, or to buy an extended business listing.

The site will be changing a lot over the next few weeks, but finally people can begin to see what the guide will be like when it really launches.

Chippewa Guide Email List

If you're interested in the Chippewa Guide, we'd like you to join our mailing list. The mailing list is for people who are interested in helping develop the features of the Chippewa Guide, as well as people who would like to be listed in the guide and want to know how things are going with the guide's development. If you're interested in signing up to receive email from the list (we promise, it's a fairly low traffic list) you can sign up here..

Chippewa Guide Coming

The Chippewa Guide is coming to the Chippewa Valley in April, 2007. Chippewa Guide will mix aspects of a traditional city directory with Web 2.0 features.

What Will Chippewa Guide Do?

The Chippewa Guide will provide directories to

  • Businesses
  • Nonprofit Organizations
  • Restaurants
  • Entertainment
  • Local Events

throughout the Chippewa Valley.

We are also expanding to include other features from the Internet, including job listings, classified ads, and more.

How is Chippewa Guide Different?

The Chippewa Guide will be constructed by the Chippewa Valley community. Businesses and organizations may submit a free basic listing to the guide, which they can update themselves as needed. Basic listings will always be free and available to anyone.

Additionally, extended listings and advertising will be available at a very low cost ($150/year or less), making it possible for any business to maintain a web presence in the Chippewa Guide. Later releases of the Chippewa Guide will bring more features, including audio and video publication, audio guides for local bands and venues, menus, local features, news, and more. Early contributors to the Chippewa guilde will receive a minimum 50% discount for extended listings, and other benefits.

We also plan to have online job ads and classified ads that will tie into national networks. Your job ads will not only appear in the Chippewa Guide, but also in MySpace, Simply Hired, and more. In general our plan is to tie into other parts of the web as much as possible, so that it will not stand alone, but truly be part of the World Wide Web.

How Can I Participate?

Currently we are planning to launch the Chippewa Guide site in early April, 2007. We will shortly be opening the site for the submission of free listings, and will soon be asking the local communities to start listing organizations, events, etc. We are also interested in talking with community members about the guide, and how it can best serve their purposes.

There is a brief on-line survey for businesses and organizations to complete. This survey will help us determine the needs of businesses and organizations in the area.

If you would like to be listed in the Chippewa Guide, receive an early participation discount, or participate in the planning for the site, please subscribe to our mailing list . If you have any questions, please contact us.
